Deworming in dogs is a term used to describe the process of removing parasites from a dog’

Deworming is the procedure of removing worms from your pet’s stomach on a regular basis, which should be done every 3-4 months. Deworming young puppies is advised when they are 2-3 weeks old.

Types of worms-

  • Roundworms

Symptoms – Colic, strange faeces, anorexia, vomiting, abdominal swelling, and coughing are some of the symptoms.

Causes – Roundworms infect most dogs at least once in their lives. An inheritance from their mother’s milk is a prevalent cause

  • Hookworms

Symptoms – Coughing, a loss of appetite, diarrhoea, and constipation are some of the symptoms.

Causes – The worm enters the puppy’s body through ingestion or milk consumption from its mother, as well as through contaminated water or the environment.

  • Tapeworms

Symptoms- Low energy, dull coat, weight loss, diarrhoea.

Causes –  The tapeworm enters into the pup’s body mainly through ingestion like adult fleas. Other strong transmitters that a dog can easily ingest include birds, rodents, etc.

  • Whipworms

Symptoms – swollen abdomen, increased appetite, periodic vomiting.

Causes – Through contaminated food, flesh, and water, the worm can enter the puppy’s body.

Why is it necessary to deworm pet dogs?

Deworming is vital for a dog’s overall health and fitness. Worms can cause a loss of appetite, skin problems, and other ailments, all of which can develop if left untreated.

Your pet will be healthy and fine again as soon as the worms are gone. Because puppies are more likely to catch worms, it is critical to deworm your puppy on a regular basis.

Here are some easy ways to keep worms from bothering you and your dog:

  • Have your dog’s worms checked at least once every six months by your veterinarian.
  • To protect your dog from heartworms, seek a prescription from your veterinarian and give medication to him once a month or as needed.
  • Keep fleas away from your dog. To protect your dog from worms or diseases, put an anti-flea treatment to its skin.
  • Wash your hands frequently, particularly after picking up their trash.
  • Keep your yard clear at least once a week to avoid mosquitoes and fleas.
